LINCOLN UPON THE ALTER OF FREEDOM

In 2008, Producers for the Lincoln Amphitheater in Lincoln City, Indiana approached Michael Nevitt about designing lighting and projections for their upcoming World Premier of “Lincoln Upon the Alter of Freedom”. The new Lincoln historical show was a drama recreating the life of the 16th President. The Lincoln Amphitheatre, set in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana where Abe himself once chopped wood. The Producers wanted to create a new production after the long running musical “Young Abe Lincoln” had closed the left the theater empty. Nevitt was involved for the very start, part of the creative team fir the total experience which included a Amish-style meal prior to the show. Nevitt used the in house conventional lighting package plus added a package of 62 automated lighting fixtures which remained install for 2 summer runs. He spent countless hours researching historical footage then supervised the creation of other projection content in the production even edited 19th Century historical still photos to appear 3D or added anitmation.
